The ATA may be scheduling it but........... The WSRC has not scheduled it yet. WSRC link: https://www.dnr.illinois.gov/recreation/WSRC/Pages/InteractiveEventsCalendar.aspx This quote from the WSRC site: As events are approved, they will be listed on our website calendar. Thank you all for your continued support of the WSRC. I would also like to see a date for the SCTP Nationals at the WSRC.
After the conclusion of the committee reports, President Morris recognized Executive Director Gipson. He stated that the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) has requested that the ATA run the 2017 U. S. Open Trapshoot at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex from May 31 through June 4, 2017. The proposal included the following terms: ▪ Shoot will be managed by the ATA ▪ All office and line staff to be ATA employees ▪ Shoot program of events, printed program, sponsorships, etc. provided by ATA ▪ $3 per registered entry paid to IDNR by ATA ▪ No daily fees will be collected for the Illinois State Association ▪ Practice traps to be managed by ATA ▪ GADS software to be used by ATA staff 36 ▪ Guaranteed minimum All American competition factor of 4 ▪ IDNR has same responsibilities as during Grand American, except for camping ▪ IDNR responsible for camping reservations Subsequent to further review and discussion, and upon Motion of Vice President Dean with Second of Vice President Herman, and following the President’s Call of the Question, with no further response or comment, it was unanimously: RESOLVED, that the ATA accept the aforesaid proposal of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to run and manage the U. S. Open Trapshooting Championships in 2017. President Morris called for a recess at 9:50 HRS.
Hmmmm. I thunk the U.S. Open was an ISTA shoot. Or is it? At least they won't need too many employees.
Wow, a major points shoot. How can anyone miss the opportunity to collect some valuable All-American points? How many are needed to collect that new K-80 like the President gets?
Actually the US Open was one of three tournaments the ATA decided to hold in order to fulfill the agreement with the IDNR requiring them to use the WSRC for a certain number of event days each year. In 2005, the E.C. established a "Spring Shoot" (to be held the last weekend of April 2007 or before mid-May 2007) and "Fall Shoot" as a "National Team Shoot." The inaugural ATA U.S. Open was actually staged at the WSRC on July 6-9, 2006 and reported in the September issue of Trap & Field. Contrary to what some believe, both of these shoots were established by the ATA, not the IDNR. At some point and for some reason, the ATA allowed these tournaments to be held under jurisdiction of the IDNR. At that point, like all clubs, the IDNR had to apply to the State Association for approval of their shoot dates. Wonder why they were not handed over to the ISTA? The U.S. Open was never an ISTA shoot, however, they (ISTA) did offer to hold both the U.S. Open and Fall Shoot last year at Brittany Park I believe, if the WSRC remained closed. That offer was apparently misinterpreted by the ATA and IDNR, resulting in a "name calling" session of which the ATA seemed to side with the IDNR rather than support its member organization, the Illinois State Trapshooting Association. Both (ATA & IDNR) felt "the ISTA was just trying to "steal" the sponsorship funds for the two tournaments." Very odd indeed. Enjoy Our History !
This is bullshit ATA bully crapola. Sorry mods but I have to say it! This puts the ATA and IDNR in competition with the ISTA. No fees to be collected for the ISTA in the State of Illinois? How does that work? Who benefits from this? Even if the ISTA agreed to this, it hurts the state association.
Smithy:What makes you think/suggest to see the SCTP @WRSC when it is being held at the Cardinal Center GB..................................DLS
