Adjustable comb

Quick question. Do you adjust the comb parallel to the barrel or parallel to the adjustable rib. I Shoot a high POI
So my rib is sloped downward towards the muzzle. Starting to get smacked in the cheek

Parallel to the rib. If the rib’s already angled down toward the muzzle for that high POI, set the comb to match it. Parallel to the barrel leaves the front of the comb lower relative to the rib and you end up eating more of the recoil right in the cheekbone, exactly the smack you’re feeling. Matching the rib keeps the cheek weld consistent and softens the hit.

 

its not the comb add a little negative pictch put a 1'16" washer between the recoil pad & butt--this is how Dennis DeVault cured cheek slap for me

 

I like to start with zero pitch for recoil. The heel to toe line is perpendicular to the top of the receiver. Adjust the comb height for POI. Then adjust the rib for sight picture. When the gun is shooting where I'm looking. I don't even really know what the POI percentage is. Unless I take it the still board.
I actually read about the comb to rib method of adjustment on this site I believe.

 

Other thought move the front of the comb maybe a 1/16" away from your face--won't affect your sight picture a NC state champ taught me this trick ,also

 

Was this before or after Dennis DeVault pitch adjustment?

 

It was after, I did not have any comfort issues, off setting comb was a bit of advice that I did use when I was checking my POI from a bench rest @ 13 yds
