IS SOMEONE MISSING TOES at the Cardinal Center? Or more?

I wasn't there but....
I have some messages implying someone may be missing toe(s) or more after his gun discharged into his toe(s)....or foot.

Messages say it happened on the west end.

I have lots of questions.

How is the guy? Was anyone else injured? . Did EMS and the police get called?

We decide what? Why don't you get hold of the person that "implied" something happened, and pin them down for the FACTS.

 

I was on bank 3 and it happened on bank 11, so I did not see it, but here is what I heard from several sources. After a rain delay and were called to the bench. His squad went out to shoot before we were called to the line. They were called off the line and went back to the side walk area. Some how he left his gun loaded and shot himself in the foot back by the side walk. The EMT's rendered first aid and an ambulance took him away.

For safety reasons I never shoot with a person missing toes. I always ask for pictures first.

Just out of curiosity, did the gun, that was involved, have a release trigger?

 

does it matter? the breech is suppose to be open with finger off the trigger and a gun is suppose to be loaded at the ready off the toe, down range, then closed.

 

Basic safety, If it was a break open even worse, but autos and pumps I've seen it happen on the line with a slam fire but never on the walk behind the line. Things I would ask was this a new shooter or an OLD shooter. My experience running the hunting preserve for 30 years is that the middle age hunter that has hunted all his life, he says, but not for the last 20 years is the most dangerous. These hunters know everything and don't take advice well. Trap shooters are generally the safest gun handlers to be around but I've kids and old men get dangerous. Every close call I was around in the 40 years I shot active were from one of these.

If he shot himself in the foot he probably wasn't in the overall, he should have been kicked off the grounds for being unsafe, I'd have done that when I was the TD. Also thinking about it he should be suspended from the ATA for a year or so for being unsafe. The ATA has no problem suspending Dave Schaffer every whip stish for something. Didn't Dave get suspended for something the some woman shooter acused him off. I think Dave still has all his toes and fingers.
