We Need Leadership to Dump the ATA - We need a leader!

We need someone to step up and create a new organization. Paging anyone.

Starting a new entity to replace the ata would be a monumental task unfortunately no matter how many of us would just love for that to happen. It makes more sense to try and change the ata and dump the president, worthless board members and all the delegates that have allowed the ata to become only a memory of what was once a great organization. If a new organization for trap were to be formed it would have to have some big names attached to it like Berlet, Dysinger and any other big name shooter. I think a great choice to run any new trap organization would be Don Cogan (DuckDog) as he could charm a donut out of the hands of Berlet, and we all know that is no easy task.

 

Do you remember any time where I said “show me where I said that” where someone did? Didn’t think so.

I didn’t start a post saying someone should do it, the OP did. I merely stated the OP should do it, if he really thought it was necessary or needed. I’ll support it and we’ll see where it goes.

Oh boy- if you think answering that question is the way you tell if someone has balls or not, or answering any question online and anonymously, for that matter- you must fit in well with the other blue haired ladies at the casino.

And those Blue haired ladies, by the way that sounds kinda like a swipe at older people. They’ve don’t play the amounts I do so I wouldn’t fit it with them. And using the word “other” would imply I was an older female. Dumb comparison, try another.

How about this? If Merlo put up a poll and you actually had the nerve to post your vote, probably wouldn’t, but IF you did grow a pair, how would you answer?
Does the ata need replaced?

 

Oh I don’t know- from what you said, I feel like other was the appropriate word to use, glad you noticed that. I don’t care how much you bet at the casinos, if you fit in with a group, you fit in. If you are really betting that much money and your other post is about your bigger wins, are you sure that you’re breaking even? As for the fitting in again- it’s kind of like at a gun club, whether it’s throwing registered targets, unregistered targets, pigeons, you name it- you can be the guy with an 870/1100 or with a Perazzi/Krieghoff, you’ll fit in as long as you aren’t…a jerk, we’ll say. Birds of a feather type situation, you could say.


I agree, there are many people that used to shoot, that don’t anymore. That’s a shame- the ATA is not perfect (no organization is) but it is what we have now for registered targets. If someone wants to start a new organization that’s going to be better, I’ll join- like I said in my initial post that really seemed to get under your skin.

 

Skipped right over the poll question and went straight to that, “It’s not perfect but it’s what we have” BS answer. And that’s what the ata has become, BS.

You should have just said, “I don’t think there should be a new organization, I like it just the way it is” in your first post.

It was NEVER perfect. But it was a 1000% better than it is now. Now it just SUCKS. And you fit in with all the excuse makers that think it doesn’t.

I’m sure I’m not just breaking even. And even if I was, it would still be better than giving the ata one cent.

Newsflash, there are THOUSANDS of people still shooting. They just don’t pay the ata dues and fees.
WHY? Because the idiots wouldn’t listen to the members.

 

Jumping to conclusions there, aren’t you? About the current members that are still shooting, anyway- you can have whatever opinions you want, but you’re painting with a pretty broad brush for others. Is it as good as it used to be? No. Can it be improved? Absolutely. Would another organization giving the ATA competition be good? I think so, competition is usually always good for the consumer.


So it seems like we may have found some common ground there. I enjoy shooting, so I still do that. If you don’t, that’s fine. I said I would join a new organization if Jim started one in my first response here. You said why don’t I start one- in your first reply here, since you felt free to do that- how about I ask you to do something that you feel would make the ATA better, instead of just complaining about how it’s ruined.

 

I NEVER jump to conclusions. Someone would have to be a complete moron to not see the drastic decline in the number of register shooters since the "we know better than you crowd" moved the biggest shoot of the year.

I didn't leave the ata. The ata left me.

For years I shot thousands of targets every year, the average year was 4000 singles, 3000 caps and 2500 doubles, We traveled to all the local clubs on weekends, the zone shoot, the PA , OH, WV, VA, State shoots, anywhere that threw registered targets so I had enough targets to shoot the GRAND in VANDALIA. I spent every cent I could on shooting or components to shoot registered targets. I took a loan from the credit union every year to pay for the week at Vandalia. Hell, I wrote a few checks for smaller local shoots knowing I didn't have the money to cover it unless I won. I never bounced a check.

I was on the BOD of our club 6 times and helped run all the registered shoots we had. And we had 8-9 a year. Those shoots and the others at 10 or more clubs in SWPA are what got us enough targets. NOW? it's tough to find 3 clubs that still throw registered targets. WHY? because hardly any people need them. WHY? Because they DON'T GO TO THAT PLACE IN ILLnews.

When the idiots moved the grand, against the members wishes, I quit paying them their dues and fees. So I DON'T CARE WHAT THOSE MORONS DO. I hope to God they stay at that White elephant in ILLnews and see the same low numbers every year forever. Go join in. You can all talk about how great the ata is.

THOUSANDS of us remember how great it WAS. What are the numbers for the GAH event since the bozos moved the grand? Dismal is a good word. PATHETIC is better. They screwed the pooch and won't admit it.

My initial post to you was as a moderator reading what was a sarcastic post by you. There was no need for you to tell Jim he should start a different organization.
Just post, no, I don't think there should be an organization to replace the ata. Anything other than that and you sound like one of those, the ata is great, idiots on another site. If the shoe fits.....
