Missouri moved State Trapshooting Tournament to compete with Great Lakes Grand? Who OK'd this?

Why did Missouri move their State Shoot to the same week as the Great Lakes Grand? Usually the ATA frowns on major shoots competing with the holier "Grands". The Grand venues pay big money for their trophy package.

Who gave the OK on this? Does this have anything to do with Executive Director of the ATA being from the Linn Creek area?

    I report. You decide.

    .

I missed the implying part. What was implied? I read a few questions. I don’t see where anything was implied.

The GLG was missing a few of the regular attendees (choosing to go the MO state instead) but overall the numbers were higher than previous years (29% over last year). I did hear that there was no lodging to be found for long distances because of other events going on in the same area (Lake of the Ozarks). Often the GLG is plagued with significant rain, making the grounds into a mud bog but no such problem this year. Thanks to all that attended.

That Lynn Gipson was behind the switch.

The GLG was well run with great target presentations. Weather was also perfect. Grounds were well maintained. Having been to this event 20+ times I can’t praise them enough.
Sometimes the weather can be a challenge but I have seen biblical rains at Linn Creek that turned it into such a bog that they need tractors to get campers out!

Looks like attendance at both shoots was up nicely over last year’s numbers. I’d say it was good a move for both clubs.

In the past, Missouri's state shoot occurred right when all the high schools were having graduation. Moving it a week, they combined a high school shoot along with the regular shoot. Some of the usual crowd did not appear, but others that normally could not did appear.

I can remember a number of years ago the Great Lakes Grand was moved to the first week of July and moved it's state's shoot to the end of July. Kentucky pitched such a fit because this caused a conflict as it coincided with their state shoot. The next year the GLG was moved back to its original dates.

Move your state shoot up against the Grand or the worthless US Open and see how well that works out. Let us know what the ATA Executive Officer has to say about that.

If anyone else posted this, there would be a bash for a “Troll” post. Getting desperate for topics to post I guess.
