Powder-Where Is It?

Word on the streets today is be prepared for a shortage of shotgun powder for the next two years. Shipments will be minimal because of a worldwide shortage of nitroglycerine. War in the Ukraine is encouraging other countries to build their supplies of ammo in the event of wars' escalation. The "build back better" program some voters fell for will make trapshooting more expensive than ever. Yes, it's gonna get worse!

 

Yep, Andy. The same machine that used to make my Green Dot is now turning out powder for Howitzer shells. It doesn't look good, does it?

 

It's the hoarders' fault!!!

 

Disregard the above, I just remembered I hoarded a bunch.

 

IMO, it's not hoarding if you are going to use it, or trade it for a component that you need. We have a small group where we don't sell anything for money, but we sure as heck will trade it to each other for whatever we need, money exchanged seems to foster ill will and hard feelings. Works out great so far, if someone scores a big deal on a component, trades off whatever excess, it helps out everyone else in the group, and everyone can get what they need to keep shooting.

 

Powder is out there, you just have to look hard and sometimes long. May not find the exact powder you want but will find something to get by.
Right now I know of a vendor with powder for all gauges for target shooting. Better to adjust for the changes now days. Goes in cycles. Now it seems that primers are the rare animal again!

 

I did a quick google and found 700x powder in stock. I haven't had to buy powder in quite a while (had two 12 LB kegs) so I don't know what a "good price would be for three 4Lb containers. The place I found had 3 for $280.00 shipped.

Dave Berlet told me today that Down Range Wads Kevin and Kenny Berger both told him that is the case. Not any powder from Canada or EU it's all going to kill commies. They said you better buy it when you find it. They thought it would be for at least 2 years.

I also heard Ohio is charging 43 bucks for targets at the State and the Zone Shoots.
