I posted a WTB add, and he PM'd with a gun that I was looking for, and the pics and description were from one that sold a year or so back on Guns America. Skeethotshots is his username here. Thanks,
Holy smokes, I didn't realize scammers were this big a problem. 4/5 of those who contacted me about my WTB ad have been scammers; the last is yet to be determined.
Unfortunately this site has no safeguards to protect us from them, so everyone needs to be very cautious.
I'm afraid I've been scammed as well by skeethotshots. Posted I wanted a shell catcher for a Winchester Super X1. He replied he had one. Pretty pricy, but they are hard to find. Sent off the dough and it is now well beyond when I should have received it. Beware!
As I posted on another thread, 99% of these scammers use a Google text phone. All of their correspondence is via text message. If you can't talk to them on the phone, it's a pretty good indication that it's not a legitimate deal.
I had a WTB in mid-September. He wanted to know how much I was willing to pay. I reported him as a scammer to the moderators at that time. I also commented on an October post that he was a scammer.
I've had these guys contact me every time I put a wanted posting. It's too easy for them to find pictures of exactly what you're looking for. Every time, I have done a little searching and they are always new to the site and have a few posts. I will only deal with people that have plenty of posts and I can call them and actually understand the language they speak. Not trying to be a racist, but it seems that every scammer that I've dealt with on these forums speak terrible English.
