I’m sick of working on this junky machine. Anybody have any idea why the Turret on a Pat Trap will decide to rotate half a turn or none at all. This is a first year production machine I’ve been told. It does fine for awhile, then it will move half a turn or none at all. Then it does fine again for awhile. There is no number of targets thrown that is consistent when this happens. I’ve tried increasing the flow rate on the hydraulic fluid, still does it. The chain is very loose and I am going to replace it. Is it possible the gear or shaft is stripped or slipping. I’m going to call Pat Trap tomorrow but ive got it on my mind tonight so I thought I’d ask on here to see if anyone has experienced this before. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Talk to Joe or Charlie in the Henniker, NH factory, they are the EXPERTS. They will be able to set you on the right path instead of just throwing parts at it. Good luck

A just the micro switches. It’s not stopping where it should be stopping. The arm should be stopping a inch before it’s off of the break pad. It sounds like your problem could be the micro switches

We call and talk to Charlie, he is very helpful. I do know that your chain has to be tight, we just replaced ours because it had stretch.

Rick I’ve adjusted the switches, it’s stopping in the area it should, even when the turret acts up the arm is where it should be. I simply can’t figure out why it’s doing this. If all else fails I’ll try the switches again.

Check the Cocking Bolt Assembly and see if you still have the white bushing still on the assembly.

You could try calling Vince Valois. He is probably more knowledgeable about PATs going back to day one. PM me if you need his number.

    Good luck.

We had the same problem. The micro's are either out of adjustment, or in our case, had a build up of clay dust. The newer model has proximity switches built into the cylinder.

Have you checked the micro switch under the turret? Sounds like your problem is with the turret not rotating consistent. The travel on the front cylinder has nothing to do with the turret. There is a video on youtube showing the same problem and fix.

Search youtube for "Pat Trap Issue". I thought they gave a answer to what causes the issue but they only show the problem.

Go to the Pat Trap web site and check out "SW Trouble Shooting". Could be # 4 switch is bad.

I am pretty sure it’s the micro switches but I would still check the Cocking Bolt Assembly when your looking under the turret.

Kolar25 I’ll check #4 switch and see if it’s functioning correctly. You may have the answer. I’ll report what I find out.

Kolar25 you were right, switch 4 not aligned correctly. Adjusted it and all is well! Thanks for the info.
