I just received word that History Seeker is recovering in the hospital after an operation. All went well and he'll be monitored for a few days more before his release. Sending my thoughts and prayers to our Founding Member and fellow Official Historian. HB
Thanks for the heads up History Buff. Please share with History Seeker a cheerful get well from the forum. I hope someone can sneak a laptop to him.

Hi All ! Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. Yes I was headed to shoot some trap with 635G when my "Gas pains" once again hit me. I was only 2 miles from home and decided this time they were so severe I better get back home. DUMMY me fought these GAS pains for three more days with cold sweats, and finally caved in and went to the Doctor who immediately sent me to the Emergency room at The Villages hospital about 1/2 mile away. When I got there I found out someone had called ahead, and all hell broke loose. Rushed into the room, EKG mild heart attack and in A-Fib. Then as they were poking and prodding my belly this other doctor hit a very sensitive area in my right side...3 day GAS pains I said...LOL CAT Scan showed my Gaul Bladder having problems so surgery was in order. Early next day in surgery for removal of Gaul bladder by Laparoscopic surgery but once inside, my surgeon found more of an issue so she opened me up by incision to see what was happening. As told to me by my wife, she found a bunch of "mush" around my Gaul bladder, immediately sewed me up and sent me on an ambulance ride to Orlando Advent Health to what was later told to me one of the best Transplant surgical teams in Florida. The head Doctor reopened me up, extended the original incision by another couple of inches and found I had a couple Gaul Stones (my GAS pains for over 2 years +) had caused the Gaul Bladder to infect and attach itself to my intestine and swelled and pushed it's way into my liver but didn't attach itself to it. Doctor told me this condition had been going on for along time so he had to remove my Gaul Bladder in pieces and cut it away from my intestine, sew up the hole it left in the intestine, put a patch on it, install a drain, pump me full of anti biotics and monitor my recovery in the Transplant ward even though I technically didn't' have a transplant. I came home last evening, able to walk without a walker, and got my best night's sleep in the past two weeks. So many people wanted to know what happened to me that I just figured I would explain everything...sorry for being so long. I am still tired and weak, but see improvement each day. Moral to this story is: IF you think pains are just Gas that will pass, have a doctor check it out anyway. I have had these attacks for 2+ years and this was what happened to me being the tough OLD bird... Lesson learned the hard way folks... Last Doctor visit a couple months ago she told me to loose 5 pounds by my next visit...I did that !!! I went into the hospital at 196 pounds and left at 174. Not the way it was intended...LOL Thanks for everyone checking in with my wife throughout this ordeal, you all have been very kind. Dave
Thanks Terry ! Mild attack, and A-Fib....Meet with cardiologist next week. Believe it or not, that was not the big issue, but needs attention.
I went through this same thing in 2005. I have the long scar across/up my stomach to remind me. I can tell you after all the 'antibiotics' to take care of the massive infection, your eating will never be the same. It kills everything that is supposed to be 'good' in your digestive system. So ..... get used to eating just things that taste like cardboard. It is a slow recovery from the built-up infection, but, like other things you feel much better in time. I went through many 'tests' to try and find my stomach problems, then when it got like yours the damage was bad. The Doctor that did the cutting on me, told me that sometimes it goes like this ..... hard to diagnose until it gets that bad. He said some people have back surgery, hip surgery, and so on, before it gets to the point they know what it is, because the pain is different for some people. Good luck, get well, and it shouldn't be long before your return to shooting .....
Thanks User 1 ! Oh yes, I have the long incision running from just under my sternum to a point on my right side that I cannot see. Yep, I have lost my too good appetite, but some food does taste fairly good to me. Looks like my 20+ pounds taken off will not be going back on for quite some time. Feels good to be slim, but not the way I wanted it. LOL My weight loss has changed my insulin intake drastically now also. I am adjusting the doses I take for my diabetes so as not to go too low. Thanks to all once again for the well wishes
4 weeks tomorrow since the first surgery. Have had to open up the incisions twice (different places) do to infections. Yesterday at the Surgeon's was not a pretty sight, but I learned not to ignore "issues", and just let the professionals do their thing. I am only relaying my recovery (and issues) in hopes someone will benefit from my, and others, experiences and NOT let things ride. Doctors all telling me to SIT DOWN and let things heal. I guess I have been over doing it, and need to sit still. Back to sitting in my recliner...I hate being so lazy, but I guess it's a must for a while longer. User1, sorry to hear you went through all of this also. It's not fun ! Damned old body just doesn't want to heal as quickly as I thought it should.
It is definitely something to take your time to get better ...... But, believe it or not, you will feel much better ..... What you eat will make a big difference ..... If the cardboard box it comes in tastes better than what it is ... it will not irritate your now fragile digestive system ..... Hang in there ..... it gets better ..... I know .....
Thanks to History Buff and 635G for the phone calls of encouragement throughout this whole ordeal. User1, I am getting use to Cardboard. Last evening I didn't realize I was chewing on a box top that fell into my dinner. ha ha ha Just so happened that I sent a link about a little old trap that was for sale, and danged if I didn't cost my pal HB some serious bucks. And he still calls me his friend ? ~~~ ha ha ha
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones. There is so much to be thankful for. Best regards, The Phantom
