Chasing points

IMO, after seeing what this virus has done to large gatherings at sporting events not mentioning wrecking so many lives...The ATA really needs to scrap all this point chasing format including so many Grands.

 

The Mini grands generate big money for the ATA so I doubt you (we ) will see them go away ... The name "Grand" has been whored out to the point it has become almost meaningless to the average shooter ... The world/communities have to see what becomes the "New Normal" once we get beyond this CoronaVirus and adjust accordingly ... The "GRAND" at one time was what many shooters looked forward to and made plans around so they could attend, unfortunately those days are long gone for a majority of shooters ... The points are a draw for those who in contention others for the most part ignore their existence and look forward to the Social aspects of the bigger shoots ... There is no shortage of trap shooters just a shortage of those that shoot registered targets any more for what ever reason, one is as valid as the next ...
This Corona Virus has created set backs in many ways for many people, business's, vendors, distributors, gun clubs, bars, restaurants, churches etc ... It will be interesting to see how we all come out of it and we will with the exception of those who die from it ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

 

I heard that Michigan cancelled the great lakes grand and moved their team shoot to that weekend. Any truth to that?

The ATA has been emailing updated lists of cancelled / postponed / rescheduled shoots. I checked yesterday’s list and it shows exactly what you had heard. The 2020 GLG (originally scheduled for May 19 - 24) has been cancelled. The 2020 Michigan Spring Team shoot has been rescheduled to May 21 - 24.

 

I have a terrible feeling that all of the changes are going to be a nightmare for the vendors who travel and are one of the biggest draws to most shoots ... This is obviously no fault of the ATA, but cannot be a good incentive for a lot of the Vendors ... They have no way to recover their loss in most instances ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

 

Good move on Mi. part. Why pay $15,000.00 for a grand shoot and then not have any shooters show up. It will also save the ATA money,They will save the travel expenses for the EC and BOD. Roger C.
