A shooter I know went to an estate sale several years ago, a Silver Seitz was being offered, the auctioneer stated the gun doesn't work

He got the gun for $700.00--it had a release trigger and the auctioneer, didn't know what a release trigger was

Obviously your friend was the only one at the auction who knew anything about shotguns, Lucky him.

Sounds like the stories about finding 427 Cobras in barns that had been put away by the owners and everybody forgot about them for 50 years.

Like finding old Knuckleheads and Panheads in the old barns, all three of them are pretty well gone now.

I know a guy that knows a guy that said back in 1981 he found a Knucklehead in a barn in IL. that was in mint condition.

The thing is, the owner must have forgotten to shut it off when he parked it in 1940,

    because it was STILL RUNNING.

    Talk about great gas mileage.

I didn't find a Knucklehead in a barn but I did come across one in a shed behind a used equipment store in Arkansas. Complete and original (OK that's a lie - it was missing the headlight) 1941 FL in great need of some TLC. Which it got. I rode it for years and far as I know it's still on the road. I sold it when I came across an ex-CHP FLH in the shed behind Skip Fordyce when I was mech-ing there and going to UCR. 1964 side-oiler Pan. The one bike I do truly regret selling after I finished grad school. Ah, well.

I bought a Krieghoff model 32 trap for $575.00 some years back. Still have it. Also bought a Browning Citori trap (late 70's model) for $350, still have it too.

He meant 'there was a lot of oil running down the side'.
    Harley, y'know.

That would be chain oiler, they got a bad rep due to the oil draining from the primary cover that oil was actually oiling the primary chain. Primary chain adjustment at the oil pump is tough. Most that had no clue saw the spot under the primary cover and thought it was a leak and Harley had to get rid of the oil somehow. There was no EPA then. :)

I bought a Colt Boa for $650 a few years ago and sold it for $2,850. I wish I would have kept it as they're worth around three time that today.

Dawg, not posting this to make you feel worse, I wish I had about a hundred different ones I've owned over the last 50 years but I saw this the other day on the big auction site

There is a NIB Lew Horton Boa set, 4" and 6" in the display case. They made 100 sets
The bid I saw was around $27,000.00
    Who woulda thunk it

And for all the guys that say It's not worth that
It only takes one buyer to make something worth it

Edit: I just checked again. $28,500.00
Apparently there is at least two people that think it's worth it

    Ended, 99 Bids, Final $31,225.00

the last model Panheads had an external oil feed to the rocker boxs.

Not true at all. Amazes me the shit that people believe or make up. All of the older bikes with sheet metal primaries (Limeys too) had chain oilers in the primary case - probably beginning sometime around when the first motorcycle was built. To the best of my knowledge ALL of them had an adjustment on that and the HD's most certainly did. The amount was not that voluminous for that matter, everyone knew where the oil came from, didn't GAF, and it was not in the least mysterious.

What is not true? I think you need to back and read all the posts, what I said is TRUE and about the same as what you said.
and BTW the Knuckle had the oil lines running to the heads long before the Pan was born.
