Bill Hunter Coin

So this was in my Dad's stuff with some buckles and other trophy thingies. He shot at Redlands a lot and obviously this came from there but I have no idea when or if it was in fact a trophy. Zooming on the pix there is mucho detail and the edge is serrated like a regular coin. It's about the size of a silver dollar and says it's an oz. Could not have been cheap to produce.
So does anyone know anything about it?

Bill had those coins minted after his induction into the ATA HOF. Mine is with my most important trapshooting memorabilia.

I would venture a guess that they were prizes to commemorate a Bill Hunter Appreciation Day shoot at the Redlands GC. I don't know the year but the next time I talk with him I'll try to remember to ask.

Mr. Hunter also had the below medallions made up for the Trapshooting Hall of Fame in 1996 when he was an Inductee.

Coins as described here were presented as table favors to all guests at the 1996 HOF Induction Banquet by Bill and Ruthie Hunter of Carson, CA.

I had the Pleasure of meeting him on many occasions over the years and he is as consistent as they come with his intentions ... Truly a Gentleman and a sincerely nice guy ... I talk to Bill a few times each year on the phone. Great Guy.

 

I have never met the man but if everyone strived to do a tenth of the things listed that this man does the world of trapshooting could be a better place. Seems to be a very generous and caring man.

 

I still have my coin from the silent auction in 1996 at the grand american OHIO

 

In the early '90s Mr Hunter and I shot the same class/cap and usually were on the same squad at many Redlands shoots. I don't recall him ever whining about the targets, slow pulls, fast pulls or any of that crap. He just seemed to enjoy the game for what it is like a gentleman and shot it that way.

I've been considering putting the coin up on ebay. Anyone got any thots about what a reasonable start price might be? Aside from the simple silver value?

You seem to live in a strange place. Get serious. So the people that collect/deal autographs, signed baseballs, personable memorabilia of any kind are low-lifes and ghouls? And JIC you misunderstood I do totally respect the memory of my father. That was who you were talking about, right?
