There is a series of national shoots being planned in the heartland of trapshooting. Still in the making but.....it looks like the first may happen late in the summer. Later a series for shoots with the same or similar format. At the end of the series a National Champ will be crowned. The group planning this says the format will be extremely challenging. It is expected that a 95 or less would win. It will be a non-trinket shoot. $$$$ Details still to be worked out. It is not expected to compete with registered shooting and may enhance it. We will see. --------- I report. You decide. Merlo out.
Wow some real competition being in the planning stages, I hope my friends will join in on this endeavor. GB...................................DLS
Sounds like fun to me! Maybe we can dust off that Dysinger fellow and get him to come out and play. If its for $$$ and Brad doesn't have to give any money to the ATA I think we could talk him into that.
This may be the rumor that I heard about. No ATA CARD NECESSARY. This may be the start of something to be proud of winning. My bet is it will be introduced at the Cardinal. What do you think? Roger C.
It's got to be on Ohio. That's the only place in the world that shoots trap! No card will bring all the sandbaggers out!
If everyone is at the 27 and with wider angles and faster speeds I don't think sandbaggers have much advantage.
I am limited to what I can say. It isn't fact until it is printed on a banner but I can say there is a somewhat semi unique way of handicapping that may be used. I wish I could say more. I can say you probably wont be shooting from the 27. That is as specific as I can get. I report. You decide. Merlo out
I think a lot of people might be surprised at the number of shooters a shoot like this can and might draw ... It will be interesting to see the final format as something like this progress's and gets rolling ... I think the fact that is would not be registered would be an added attraction, being open to any and all who are interested ... I applaud who ever came up with this idea and hope it really turns into a shoot people can look forward to ... The next thing you know there will be handicap events all across the country at clubs with no attachments ... I would say based on the way things been going Cardinal Center would probably be better than any for a start up of such an event ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
OK, sarcasm is allowed But WHY did your first thoughts go to registered (see ata) targets? Believe it or not, there is life after "registered" targets. I never shot at one pigeon that had anything to do with the ata. The way some of them flew sideways and tried to fool you would make someone THINK they were but I don't believe it was the case.
Flyersbest, Were you able to take the two bird "Failure to fire" per sub event when those pesky birds went sideways, high or low ? Just wondering you know.
No sir In one $50.00 miss and out I had a leaf spring break( MX8) on the second shot and the bird wasn't hit hard enough to stop it in the ring with the first barrel. I watched as it fluttered just over the fence while I tried to open the gun and reload so I could shoot the bottom barrel again. The bird was faster than I was. OUT!
Don it will take two days to dust off that Dysinger Guy if he is still around, maybe we could get his wife interested, Those SCTP kids are tough shooters too, Maybe he could wash those Jeans this Spring GB.......................DLS
More info will be coming out soon. I have received news that there will be a single shell manufacturer and payload for the event. More soon..... I report. You decide. Merlo out
One of the best shoots we ever attended for prizes was the "Shell Shoot" at St. Thomas, Ontario Canada. Terry Jordon and Bill Wylie told us about it, so we tried it. We went back for 2 years until we moved south. Enjoyed every minute of those shoots. We came home with many flats of shells from those shoots also each time we were there. Everyone knew what they were shooting for, and they came out in droves to compete.
I was with that dusty old dude on Sunday. Thornbottom still has a week or two of hunting left in this season. Once that's done Brad will have some free time to get his model 12's out and shoot with us. We just gotta watch out if brings one of the Beretta's because that means he is getting serious! Sunday he was hunting with a 6 digit serial number model 12 in 20 gauge. What a fine old shotgun!
Yeh, something about those Model 12's works, period. He took my field grade, modified choke out at River Bottom (alot of years ago) and promptly ran the 5 stand. 1st time with my gun, and I think it was the 1st time on the course.
I won't be shooting I'll be Czaring the shoot. I think Trap Czar has a better ring to it than just tournament director does. I'm looking into firing squads for serious acts of cheating should they take place. You can't shoot and be the rules arbitrator too. At my age it's more fun to boss than shoot. Brad
Brad maybe you can get short arm Art to furnish the ammo for the firing squad? I didn't want to say that but the Devil just jumped up and guided my fingers across the keyboard. LOL Dave Berlet
Brad as soon as I posted my last comments I realized that I was thinking of E G. I honestly believe that it was E G's ghost that caused those words to appear as I can't believe that I would have said that. LOL Dave Berlet
I just have to ask; Is "Czaring" a real word or did Brad make that one up? Also, will we be required to shoot guns either made or designed prior to the introduction of the K80 (the gun Brad loves to hate)? I believe the MX P-gun I'm currently shooting was designed for the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico so I should be good. What say ye O' Czar of the traps?
Don I'm not privy to the what the rules for the shoot are, just that I will be enforcing them for the shoot. If Czaring isn't a word before it is now. After all I was born GAY because in 1954 that meant you were happy. The English language and it's meaning have been bastardized for a long long time. So just think of me as your gay (happy) target czar as I go czaring away at an old time money shoot. Hopefully just like the old days, maybe some of these current SCTP kids can get a taste of real trap shooting like I got to experience. Brad
You can't remember what you had for breakfast yesterday. How the heck can you remember that you were happy in 1954? Oh well, I will refer to you as our Gay Target Czar if that's what you want. And I'm with ya on the SCTP youngsters joining in. I know they will like it and more than likely kick our butts too!
Brad just be careful when you are masterminding that shoot that you don't step on your czarer. Just a new throw on your new word. Dave Berlet
My insider says there is a chance this is in PA. More live bird shooters that would appreciate the more challenging targets.
Great video ---Still have a bad knuckle from those dam shooters that said pull to fast -- I would guarantee the boys setting birds in that video ended up with a few dings.
