image.jpeg As you can see Merlo is nowhere to be found. He's now under deep cover as he's hot on the trail of new information that might well rock the shooting community. This information was delivered by handwritten note left under the green dumpster which will no longer be used for fear of being discovered. Stay tuned as Merlo always seems to ferret out the big story others are trying to hide. It won't be long now!

I can see Merlo has gone farther undercover. His bridge mate seems to have vacated as well. Will be looking for Merlo's announcement.

Did you notice this is a different bridge, look at the Rip Rap bags, seems to be an up graded site, better bedding locations w/fishing poles too.

Talk about a room with a view, they need a fire place and a Boom Box, be good to go ... At least they make their beds before venturing out into the world ... The part that is really sad is some people actually live like that ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I've heard Merlo has got some news from one of his local spies. Is this true?

Merlo left a note that he's headed out on another undercover investigation that will hopefully be disclosed real soon. Might be a major case of heartburn coming for the Kool Aid drinking lemmings. Merlo sounded pretty excited this time.

I have come to the conclusion that Merlo must have a "man" on the inside. I'd guess either Greentitian or Hunter44, I'm leaning for hunter44 because since he shot at the Cardinal Center in the SCTP college shoot it appears that Merlo's information has gotten much better and more pointed. The one thing about a good spy is that it's always someone you'd least expect.

I hope it's not greentitian, for his sake. He still has a home in sparta even if the ata is losing theirs. But then it could be that it's neither of these kool aiders and just good reporting from the underpass. Brad

Two good choices. Hard to tell which but I think I'm leaning towards Hunter44 also. Just seems to be the spy type in my estimation. Throwing out useless diatribe to keep everyone guessing.

Seitz9010, I had a couple of thoughts last night come to me. The EC has a new guy now (pipe layer) who used to seem to me to have the average ATA shooter in mind when we talked about ATA politics and policies. And then when he saw the free ATA president's gun in his future he appeared to drink the kool aid. Maybe he's merlo's spy. Or another possibility is Ohio has had a guy on the Handicap committe for years who might have seen the light. Maybe he's it. I can think of others who it might be. It has to be someone who has access to e-mails. It could be one of those mentioned in the "stealing the us open e-mails"

Who ever it is, I wonder if this is all merlo has too print? I saw a post where you alluded to more news to come. Hope you are right.

Not sure what Merlo's on to but these are some notes he left under the dumpster last night.

1700 acres, 250 acres of water, could be interconnected for larger fishing areas
Camping, water, sewer, power 50 amp, expansion possible
    Roads need modification, workable
    Golf course, two potential, 3?
Buildings partial ok need relook at main building, dirt 700+ yards?
Three Dem's, two Rep's in agreement
Value $17 mil? Need higher assessment

Merlo just called from the Southside Rib joint. His comment was think politicians and developers. Partnerships, made to make, hide and keep large sums of money. The devils in the details which won't see light for a few months. Grntitan and Hunter44 might consider trading the shotguns for golf clubs but I think one of them already knows that. Housing? Retirement center? Resort? Outdoor recreation with cabins, camping, fishing, golf, tennis, mega center? Sounds like Things might be working in the back channels. Stay tuned. Will Someone known to us get all the lead?

Merlo needs the weekend to verify a couple things he's heard so Monday's going to be the day. Meanwhile its an interesting timeline regarding Roach, Gipson and the information now available. Seems like things were known by some who haven't been forthcoming with accurate statements. Wonder why anyone would want to hid things or mislead others. Very interesting.

Illinois Senator Dan Kotowski, Democrat. Prior to his senate position he served as Executive Director of the "Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence." Kotowski resigned his office on September 15, 2015 to take a non-profit management position. Interesting that the most ardent anti-gun incumbent would resign a safe seat in the senate to take a position as President and CEO of ChildServ, based in Chicago. One would wonder if he's all about helping kids now and has forgotten about the gun issues he was so involved in.

The State of Illinois would benefit by selling off the WSRC to a private entity , problem being who in their right mind would consider the place being as the location eliminate's many people from making the trek and then have to drive back and forth to where they are staying ... I do not feel the negatives are the people of Sparta, or the City itself, its the location as in LOCATION that is the problem as well as what it cost to operate the place on an annual basis ... The WSRC's average usage is 123 days (annually) that leaves a lot of days with nothing to cover those operating costs , business's do not only cost money to run on the days they are open for business ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

WPT shooting days when actual shooting is being done I would guess is no more than 70 days in total when vendors can actually make use of their buildings they are leasing, what suprises me is why the ELECTRIC has not been shut off it is more than 5 months in arrears. If it is shut off the vendors will not have any heating and cooling or lighting. Camping spaces w/o electric, they will be gone in no time /out of the WRSC. The Restraunt will be closed too.

    Gary,
The 123 days I was referring to was the schedule of ALL EVENT's from last year and the year before, posted on the WSRC schedule of event's calendar ... That being all of the events or anything else that created and or generated business for the facility ... The State of Illinois claims 3 Million dollars annually to maintain and operate the facility and claims it generates 1.1 million dollars in revenues so the off set would be 1.9 million or reasonably close according to their calculations ... These figures will no doubt increase as the facility ages and needs additional repairs to maintain a certain standard be it roads, trap machines, buildings, etc and so on ... I have no idea what they can do (change) to promote more generated income and use of the facility that they have not already done or said they have done ... Sporting Clays and skeet are established and have their own facility's for their big shoots, not sure any of them would be ready to trade off the places they have to get involved with the WSRC purely based on Location and lacking of infrastructure in the immediate area ... The additional traveling is not a big deal until you have to do it day in and day out for any period of time or you can pay a premium and stay on the grounds in a rental or motor home, family recreation is a total other subject (how many wives will sit and have nothing to do but nothing all day for very long .? ) ... There are many things that are not absolute, but (BUT) how do you change them when nothing else changes to enhance the promotions portion of the use of the facility and other recreation activities ..? Then you have the people who will come to see it one time and not return for what ever reason , which does not really matter if it eliminates the flow of participants ... There are many people who had 10 years leases, many have not renewed or have any intention of doing so again for what ever reason, but the "Black Cloud of Doubt" or not knowing for sure, sure does not help matters ... The WSRC is not a Wal Mart (Thanks for your support) or a Holiday Inn that can be utilized by family's and or people just passing through or who got lost ... Shooting facility's need shooters to make the business of shooting pay off any dividends, camping, fishing at a shooting facility does not sound ideal as a vacation spot no only in Sparta, but anyplace for that matter ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

    Editorial:
Because Illinois has to grow more taxpayers. That's why.
    Editorial Board
His theme wasn’t sexy and it only hinted at Springfield’s ongoing war for the future of Illinois. But in his annual State of the State address Wednesday, Gov. Bruce Rauner pounded on the crisis this state must fix if it’s to fulfill its ambitions — to educate its young people, to improve its infrastructure, to provide crucial services for its needy citizens.

One by one, Rauner ticked off metrics that attest to this state’s weakened economy, wimpy job creation, outmigration of workers, and failure to recover from a Great Recession that ended in June 2009. He cited the loss in recent years of 300,000 manufacturing jobs; the anti-employer policies Springfield has imposed; the bifurcated status quo in which white-collar communities within 90 minutes of O’Hare International Airport thrive while poor communities — Harvey, Blue Island, Rockford, Decatur and many others — can’t compete for jobs with locales in more business-friendly states such as Indiana, Iowa and Wisconsin.

After 82 years, a question for Madigan and Cullerton

Rauner then confronted the assembled legislators and state officials with the greatest challenge facing Illinois: “We are losing the race for good paying jobs. And as jobs have moved to other states, we have a smaller tax base and less money to invest in education, infrastructure and quality of life here.”

Take that as his unequivocal answer to those who ask why Illinois has a budget impasse seven months into its fiscal year. Who ask why Rauner keeps pushing for structural reforms before he’ll agree to higher taxes. Who ask why he doesn’t just capitulate to the Democratic leaders who presided over the creation of this desperate situation. You can boil Wednesday’s speech down to a nine-word answer from Rauner:

Michael Madigan held a news conference with a number of social service providers who spoke to the financial pressure they face. We hope they listened to what Madigan said after they spoke. Rather, to what Madigan didn’t say. He didn’t offer one idea on how to grow the revenue Illinois needs to pay for their services.

Nor did the interest groups that roasted Rauner as soon as he concluded his address. Example: The Illinois Federation of Teachers blast-emailed a 333-word news release blaming him for not delivering a plan for new revenue (read: taxes).

    Scott Stantis
We won’t be startled if new revenue is part of the solution for Illinois. But the IFT, which helped elect the Democrats who’ve run Springfield, might have urged those pols to join Rauner in fixing Illinois’ lousy climate for jobs. Money for schools doesn’t fall from heaven. It comes from taxpayers, who are in short supply.

The gesture wasn’t intentional, but Chicago Public Schools added its own telling drama on Wednesday to one of Rauner’s messages: If Illinois governments can’t tame their high overhead costs, their prospects are bleak. Even as Rauner spoke, word spread that the financially devastated district had unexpectedly delayed a planned $875 million borrowing deal that will soak Chicago taxpayers for high interest costs: Bloomberg News reported that the bonds would give investors as much as 7.75 percent — about 5 percentage points more than top-rated tax-exempt bonds now yield.

The news evoked the mad dash in many Illinois governments as officials try to stay a step ahead of insolvency. In a hastily arranged news conference, Chicago Chief Financial Officer Carole Brown and CPS senior vice president of finance Ron DeNard insisted the bond deal would go forward in the next few days. But they wouldn’t say when. And they wouldn’t say if CPS will be able to borrow the full amount it seeks for infrastructure projects and to pay off earlier borrowing.

As more citizens understand how Illinois’ miserable jobs climate limits its tax base and suppresses government revenues, expect the governor’s message to resonate. The people now paying taxes here can’t, by themselves, cover the costs and debts their politicians have created.

Rauner has spent one year trying to overcome some four decades of mismanagement in Springfield. If you’re surprised he hasn’t yet succeeded, you’re not realistic. He’s an existential threat to politicians now fighting his every reform.

But while the obstructionists pretend that newcomer Rauner is the problem, Illinoisans are voting with their feet. U.S. Census Bureau numbers show that in the most recent period measured — July 2014 to July 2015 — Illinois lost more people to outmigration than did any other state. That period marks the second year in a row that Illinois lost population. Demographers already are speculating that Illinois will lose yet another seat in the U.S. House.

How much longer until the remaining citizens of Illinois demand that their legislators change course and revive their state?

Illinois has to draw more jobs, create more taxpayers, create more wealth for those taxpayers. It’s the only way this state will have a fighting chance.
