Do Away w/200 singles. Go to 100 SUPER SINGLES

Start a new singles system, 100 Singles Targets, Set Wider Angles for everybody and call the event.

100 SUPER SINGLES

This will cut a lot of ties in all classes, speed up shootoffs, cut down on shooters expenses.

Sounds like something I'd consider shooting since I did not shoot any 200 bird events as of re-joining
ATA last year. So the High All Around would be 300 targets?

 

How about #4 Hole at "55" Yards~~Now that would be FUN singles !!!!! ~~Just Askin' ???

 

How it's gonna speed up shoot-offs I don't understand but it will slow down the rest of the program because all the traps will have to be reset, checked, and then set back and checked again.

 

Set them and forget them, no more problem ... No need to keep resetting and adjusting the traps ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

 

I didn't mean anything against 200 target events, they were my favorites, but i just can't do them anymore.

And, there are many shooters who have gotten up in years and are in my condition.

But, we still are anxious to shoot, I am still gung-ho about trapshooting.

Jack and I went from Silver Dollar to Sarasota Saturday and it was so pleasant.

They are expanding the trap fields. They even had a tray of fabulous cookies!

AND all the shooters were super friendly.

We still want to shoot ....hope. To keep it up till my time is up!

Greta we never needed 200 singles in the first place. It is just an endurance race, not one of skill.

100 birds broken are all the skill that is needed, the skill comes in on difficulty of the target.

Using 55 yard 4 -5 hole angle targets is ability. The same ability in shootoffs, just will be quicker I do not feel there will be another 1100 target shootoff that ended in a TIE.

Gary, what is this "we" stuff. There are plenty of people (even in this forum) that like to shoot 200 bird events.

 

Leonidas....you recently said you go to state shoots that have this option. But we found out that is BS. There are no state shoots that you attend that have this....right? There are no state shoots that offer it at all. You also said all the clubs you attend have this. Wrong again.

Gary did not say everyone does not like to shoot 200 birds. But....facts be damned right.

Leonidas.....we know you could not name a single state shoot with that option. Go ahead and name the state shoots you attended that have this option. As you say they all have it. Shoot trap?

Still waiting for the names of those secret state shoots you attend that you said offer the option of shooting only 1oo of a 200 bird event and only charges for 100.

The ata does offer a "SUPER SINGLES" event. It is shot using the same target settings as all their other events.

A guy from PA won it two years ago at that shoot they have in sparta.

 

Just a thought, on Saturday of a major shoot, instead of wasting the whole day shooting 200 singles, shoot the Super singles then the Preliminary Caps or doubles Then Sunday the main event...the Handicap. This way the singles, doubles and handicap could possibly be shot over the course of the weekend. I know the traps would have to be reset, but I think it could be done. I believe more people would shoot due to getting the main events all in the weekend.

Missouri Fall Hdcp used to shoot the 200 bird event over 2 days, + they shot a 100 Hdcp on those days. They found out they threw more targets doing this.

I believe Burlie Wilson had a hand in on this.

It's amazing, after years of shooting a program, a certain way, people want to change everything to accommodate themselves before the shooters behind them get to do it that way.

But, I guess some day it will be call the Indy 250, also.

By the way, part of the number of targets you're required to shoot is endurance, it's part of the competition, just like if the best car runs out of gas on the final turn and gets passed, you have to complete all the laps

 

Burlie passed away about a month ago, he was a good guy and his wife (Olabel ) is a great lady ... Met them several times out in Phx ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

 

It is amazing that people age and cannot do what they did years ago but still have the desire to compete , sometimes changes are needed to accommodate some people and allow them to fulfill their desires also ... With any kind of luck we will all reach the day when we can't do it anymore but still have the desire ... The people who are seniors now were not all that long ago and they had the endurance to shoot a 200 bird (target ) event, now some of them cannot stand up that long so why should they be eliminated when with today's technology they do not have to be ..? If enough people get eliminated they might just as well cancel the shoot and move on to something else ... The people who are getting old out number the youngsters who are coming up and sooner or later they will be old also, then what ..? Be carefull what you wish for, you might just get it and be sorry at some time after that ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

 

Accommodating one group and continuing on the same 200 championship events are not or don't need to be a one or the other. Why not continue on for those that want the endurance factor, and have an additional sub event, run simultaneous?

I bet you'll find older shooters still shooting 200, and younger shooters opting into the 100 sub event.
