Got it from a vendor that they were told by the ATA that the WSRC was only closed until February to save money.
The drama continues. A vendor who was talking to them regarding his renewal told me they still weren't sure on his vendor pricing or reopening yet but hoped to have everything finalized by the end of the year. The IDNR is still assuring the ATA the Grand in August is a definite. I'm sure if another person talks to someone they'll probably get another answer. I know we are all just repeating what we're told but it sounds like a lot of questions remain.
Seitz.... don't take this personally and consider that I don't post much but you seem to be the eternal pessimist. I can accept the premise that by closing for the winter they no longer have to mow or water the grass or trim the bushes. Thus saving money.
Why would I take it personally I just reported what I was told as did you. Yes I'm quite a pessimist lately but it took 20+ years to get to this point. I'm sure the closing is to save money as there is no budget for new money and they have already promised the ATA they would find money to open for the Grand, which I'm sure they intend to do. I guess they must have special grass and bushes that would grow in the winter months they need to worry about. I'd be more concerned with the infrastructure, electrical, machines, facilities and such but there's no money for them either.
The State of Illinois employs people to work at the WSRC (union) so they are generating nothing and paying the people who work there, must be some new method of saving money ... The place is crumbling, roads are breaking up and need repair, who knows what the trap machines are being subjected to ... Personally, I hope the WSRC is operational for 2016 though I have my doubts ... I have not talked to one person who will be going back after all of the drama so now the ATA can blames the State for the dramatic decline in attendance ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
I checked the IDNR , Ill Gov. WSRC. and ATA web sites, according to those that matter, there is no change in sight until the budget gets passed or a compromise has been reached according to the Governors web site ... The Governor is steadfast as are the opposition to the Governors proposals as of right now ... There will obviously be nothing resolved until after the first of the year (2016) being as they have nothing on schedule so far as any meetings are concerned ... The holiday festivities and party's will probably take up most of their time then there is the wrapping of the gifts and recovering from hang overs etc ... The State is not sending out license plates renewal forms to residents because the cost will add to the deficit so they are really tightening the screws to save money so the addition loss the WSRC can contribute to the deficit is obviously of no concern ... 1.9 million here, 1.9 million there , whats a few million between friends when they have already lost over $22 million on the deal over the past 11 years, but who's counting ..? The Holiday Inn has rooms available for now but they cannot be put on reserve until after the 15th of Jan, 2016 according to the ladies that I talked to ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Wanna bet the State comes up with some extra bucks for their Christmas parties. Ooops, I forgot, that would have been in the 2015 budget when money was no object.
So the vendors can cut their Rental Fees, by 11 months, or just pay 1 month of rental, when the WRSC is open for ATA Shoots and not a year round fee? Sounds good to me. Gary Bryant....................Dr.longshot
Pro rated for the vendors would be reasonable , 1/12th of the normal fee plus tax and postage ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
