Any news from Sparta, the home the Illinois Trapshooting Hall of Fame? Shooters from the area have reported you can still get to the restaurant but the HOF is only holding air. We have recently seen that N1H1 is a odds making gambling man. That said maybe N1H1 could tell us where he is putting the big money on the big question. Where is the shoot in Sparta going to be held next year? Texas, OH, NV, AZ or others? Is it Sparta against the field?
WHAT IF the Hall of Fame building cannot be completed, and has payments to contractors in arrears, who is left holding the bag ??? I am not saying it is happening, just wondering the "WHAT IF". Would all those wonderful artifacts be in jeopardy if there is a contractor lien put on the place ? My understanding is the THOF was the corporation that signed all of the construction agreements, NOT the State of Illinois who will be the actual owner. Another thread said something about a major contributor backing out. I have no idea if this is true or not, but thought this question would be one that should be answered. After looking at the THOF lease agreement, I would not want to be on that BOD.
Based on what has been reported previously non of the Hall of Fame artifacts have been placed in the new Hall of Fame building and maybe never will be. The lease for the Hall of fame gives the Hall of Fame time to remove all artifacts and memorbilia in the event of a lease termination. But again if it never opens nothing would be put into this building. But then again you never know stranger things have happened especially now.
BOY, you want to talk about a can of worms .. How could the representatives from the HOF sign anything if they do not own the property or have a lease on same ..? Would they then be responsible for any balance if any was owed on the building even if they do not own the land by in fact signing the contracts ..? WOW, sounds like another problem brewing, not sure I would put anything in the building until I was sure it was not in jeopardy ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
“Our staff has done a great job bringing the World Shooting and Recreational Complex to this point, but we are ready to take it to the next level,” said IDNR Director Marc Miller. “We feel that a vendor with specific skills in operating and marketing a shooting complex will help us provide the maximum benefit for shooters, the local community and the state of Illinois.” Great job Marc!
So here we go, will the IDNR put this out for tender or do you suppose that the IDNR has someone in mind to take control of the shooting complex. It will be interesting to see if they have any applicants.
I heard the HoF building is not quite complete as yet. 2.x million bucks spent and needs another 3/4 mil to complete? I wish all concerned the best of luck in dealing with a government run operation! About every GC I know of run by government is hardly ever a smooth operation. Come to think of it, how many government run programs are there that's considered a very successful program? The only one coming to my mind is the WPA program that actually put people to work and we still benefit from that one! The Hoover dam, the Appalachian highway and several others. Other than that program, I'm drawing blanks? The majority cost us dearly in many ways! HAP
The Government confiscated a working whore house in Nevada and couldn't make it pay, so they closed it ... Where else but in America ..? WPT ... (YAC) ...
If as Hap stated the Hall of Fame building still requires another 3/4 mil for completion after a cost of 2 mil to date for apparently just a shell where does the Hall of Fame board think this money will come from to finish a building that they will not own. Will the State that owns the building and is apparently bankrupt find the money to finish this building so that it can be used. Based on this information I doubt that the new Hall of Fame building will ever be used.
If all they got was the shell of the building somebody got greased as in big time greased ... There is no way a building even that size could cost that much unless, wait a minute, it must be a state project ... (NEVER MIND) ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
If the ATA gave the HOF $250K for the building then why would they blink at donating another $750K? I have the answer.....it is because this site exposed the fact that the building is owned by the State of Illinois. If not for this darn site and especially one very persistent member, you can bet another $750K would have gone to the Illinois owned HOF building. Site members----you have yourselves to blame.
Hap, Did you work on the WPA? I seen you name on the Hover dam, or was that in the post office next to it? Roger C.
Roger, Roger, Roger - LOW PROFILE - remember? Low, low, low. They'll have a little white wagon show up at your house and try to take you to that special place. I've never seen it but I heard AZCOTRAP spent some time there and it looks like he never quite hit a normal stride since. You might want to see if WPT has a cellar. You might also consider belt-fed home security weapons.
it is because this site exposed the fact that the building is owned by the State of Illinois. Bull Crap !!! I, along with many others are tired of this ~~ "Let's not tell them unless they need to know" BS. Well IF it had been up front information from the beginning, perhaps something different could have, would have happened in a more positive light. I believe it's called transparency. At this late date having the information in the lease agreement exposed, what other questions does this raise ? Don't blame the very persistant member of this site...He only brought forth what should have been told in the first place.
OK, I've read over and over where people on this site have claimed the State of Illinois owns the HOF building but has anyone shown any proof of this statement? If so could someone direct me to the information. I'm not interested in someone trying to bully me into proving the opposite because I ASK THE QUESTION FIRST !
Leonidas, The lease is on this site, go to it and read it. that way no one can influnce your deduction of what is says. Then come back if you question any thing it describes and tell us what you think it says. Roger C.
QUESTION?????? Is anyone starting to think the air has a distinct odor to it concerning the HOF project????? Roger C.
Roger, Funny you should mentions that, I thought it was the loafing pen out behind the barn ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Roger, The way I understand page 10, paragraph 26 is the ATA owns the HOF for at least 45 days AFTER the TERMINATION of the lease. Then the HOF is turned over to the State. The lease IS NOT terminated as of yet so claims of the State of Illinois ownership is false. Am I missing something?
No! The ATA never owns the HOF building. It is owned by the State of Illinois. It is leased by the HOF despite the fact that the HOF built it and used ATA monies to do. Leonidas....your question as to what you are missing? Your marbles.
As I understand it the lease has been broken as soon as the State of Illlinois interferes with the normal business operations. Attorney please correct. The State of Illinois announcing that they are closing the facility does interfere with normal business operations. jmho
The use of CAPITAL LETTERS is assumed to be intentionally rude and you posted.... You are wrong and don't forget your marbles.
That is a copy and paste from the HOF lease. It is posted on the site. Many thanks to the member(s) that worked to get the information and post it. I suggest you read it.
The State of Illinois owns the land and any and all improvements on that land belong to the State of Illinois upon termination of the lease agreement ... The HOF will never get a "Deed" so that means they will never own the HOF building, the Deed on all property's would revert back to the owner ( The State of Illinois) ... Once given notice they would have XXXX number of days to vacate the premises and remove all of their property to avoid losing them by default ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
